One question we get often is when is the best time to rent Disney Vacation Club? What weeks have the best availability? Are there times that are very hard? Let’s start with the good news- times when we have found Disney Vacation Club (DVC) to be the best deal, or easier to get last minute.
If you are new to renting Disney Vacation Club here start here.
Good times to rent Disney Vacation Club
Generally think of when kids are in school, and these are the times that you can usually find more availability.
- January, after the first week. (see exceptions below)
- February- first couple of weeks before presidents weekend
- April-last week of April
- May- First two weeks of May
- August- last week as most schools start the middle of August.
- September- anytime after Labor Day Weekend
- December- First two weeks (this can be popular with DVC owners so it can be a mixed bag)
There is a reason that rooms are less during these times. Most rooms are less points per night to entice Owners of Disney Vacation Club to fill rooms during these times. Not only will points will be lower per night, there will be more availability, even sometimes at smaller resorts.
The best way to tell when a room will be cheaper would be to look at a resorts Point chart.
Each resort has a separate chart, with a set number of points for each year. Top of the chart will be the cheaper “seasons”, with the most expensive at the bottom. So a studio at Saratoga Springs can range from 9 points a night ($180 if you rented from us), to 21 points ($420).

What are the hardest times to rent a villa at a Disney Vacation Club?
On the other side, the hardest times to rent a villa from a Disney Vacation Club owner are times when the parks would be busier. Think major holidays, school breaks and rundisney events.
- Christmas and New Years
- Thanksgiving week
- Easter week
- Marathon Weekends (click here for Rundisney calendar)
- All of March and most of April for spring breaks
- Jersey Week (usually the first week of November- all New Jersey schools are out this week)
- Summer used to be harder (hence why points are increased in the summer), but the last few years there has been a switch to spring break family vacations instead of hot summer vacations.
These are our Top 10 weeks we try to avoid Disney
