When you rent Disney Vacation Club (DVC), you usually make reservations almost a year in advance. It can be helpful to know the upcoming plans for Disney Vacation Club renovations at resorts. You might prefer one that isn’t in desperate need of a refresh (this was my last stay at beach club), one that isn’t in the middle of major construction noise. Even better, you might choose one that just finished and is looking it’s best!

Different types of Refurbishments
There are a couple kinds of renovations at DVC resorts- soft, full, and pool.
Soft- This includes soft goods like bedding, curtains, linens, fabric upholstery. These happens about every seven years. It’s a refresh to replace worn out items.
Full (hard) refurbishment- this happens every 14 years or so. These include new furniture, tile, flooring, everything in a room. This would include heavier construction at a resort and possible construction noise during day hours.(Think the renovation that just finished at the Grand Floridian).
Pool- separately scheduled by Disney, but Disney is really good to let people know well in advance (would know at least 11 months in advance) when pools or dining will be closed for your stay.
Beach Club villas
There is a soft refurbishment happening throughout the fall 2023. It looks like the carpet in the rooms are being exchanged for laminate flooring (we love this with the pool!) as well as the furniture in the rooms. The big plus is murphy beds are being added.
Big Closure coming Jan 2025- May 2025 for Beach Club as their pool (Stormalong Bay) will close for a major renovation. As this is a big draw for this resort, it might make a difference for your family whether to stay here during the closure. On the other hand, it might make it so there is more availability for Beach Club and it has a great location for Epcot and the Sky liner!

Boardwalk
They are also refurbishing rooms (boy did they need it along with Beach club). The rooms are getting a good update and also some work along the boardwalk itself and yes to murphy beds! No pool closures planned.
Bay Lake
It was announced that there would be a full renovation in 2024 at the resorts yearly condo meeting for owners at the end of 2022, but no dates are in the membership page for planning, so if it’s planned, it has been pushed back to a later date.
Grand Floridian
The updated Pine Key rooms are finished and the lobby to the main building still has some construction (but suspended until after the holidays). Even with this, no pools, restaurants or shops are closed.
Polynesian
Room updates are finished and the DVC buildings are the farthest away from construction noise on the new tower which is nice. No amenities are closed at this time.

New Polynesian Tower
Construction continues with no opening date announced. With this, the walkway between the Polynesian Resort and the Grand Floridian is closed at this time.
Vero Beach
Starting winter of 2023 and though out 2024 Vero beach will have Full refurbishment including those magic murphy beds and new furnishings.

Hilton Head
Starting now and continuing into 2024, the Hilton head refurb will include modernizing so there will be construction noise during the day hours. This will also include a redo of the lobby, villas, and “other areas”, but no specific mention of pool areas.
Resorts on the “coming up soon” renovation list:
Animal Kingdom (both Jambo and Kidani)
Copper Creek
Grand Californian
Old Key West
Resorts that just finished a renovation in the last couple of years
