Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is geared toward the early planner. Since owners can make reservations 11 months out from their check in day at resorts they own at, and all owners can make reservations at most resorts at 7 months, this means that early renting makes for better chances of staying at your first choice or resorts! But what if you are are last minute planner?
Our ultimate guide for Renting DVC
What is Last minute for Disney Vacation Club?
Anything less than 3 months out would be considered last minute for Disney Vacation Club reservations. Most owners won’t rent less than 31 days out, since last minute cancellations put their “points” into what is called “holding”. Disney makes it almost impossible to use these points once they go into a holding account.
Can you rent last minute?
Of course! But you will need to be flexible, or maybe just really lucky! Flexible means open to different resorts, dates, or consider staying at more than one resort during your vacation (this is called a split stay)
Out tips for a smooth split stay
You have a couple of avenues for last minute renting Disney Vacation Club and saving thousands of dollars off Disney cash prices at a deluxe resort: Find a confirmed reservation or try to rent at one of the larger resorts.
Confirmed Reservations at David’s Rentals
Owners who have made a reservation that they can no longer use will offer the reservation on David’s Rentals site for rent. You will not be able to change any of the details of the reservation. The dates, resorts and length of stay can not be changed, but you can find good deals last minute if you are flexible. Following these steps to find the page with confirmed reservations.
- Go to David’s rentals
- Click at the top menu “DVC Guests”
- Then “confirmed reservations for rent”
- You can filter by number of nights, resort, size of room, the month you are planning a trip.
- You rent through their site, and the owner then changes the names on the reservation to your guest names.
- You then can link the reservation to your Disney account which allows you to check in online and get in early to the parks.

Rent at larger resorts
Your second choice is to look at larger resorts for renting. You will not find last minute (or even less than 10 month really) availability at some of the smaller resorts, highly popular resorts or cheaper views.
Resorts and rooms with the hardest availability
Instead rent at resorts or rooms that have a much greater chance of being able to rent!
These include:
- Saratoga Springs
- Old Key West
- Animal Kingdom
Rent upgraded views and size of villa
These room types are more likely to have last minute nights compared to a standard view studio.
- preferred views (think lake view, preferred views, island views in Aulani)
- one bedrooms (these are the last villa types to fill up generally)
Lastly, you never know what will pop up, so ask the owner just to look! They can see rooms in real time on the Disney Vacation Club members website. We have rented very last minute rooms for guests, even for less than 30 days. Don’t be afraid to reach out to us for a 11 month rental or a next month rental.
