Capital One Miles- Ultimate Disney Guide

Venture X and Why it’s one the best credit card for Disney fans

We get asked a lot what card is the most versatile and best choice for people who only want 1-2 credit cards and go to Disney frequently. Many think that the best card would be the Disney Visa Card. Which is just not true! Venture miles are easy and versatile. You can use them to cover almost anything in the parks if used correctly.

Venture Card– $95 Annual Fee

  • 75,000 points while signing up (worth at a minimum 750 dollars)
  • 2 lounge visits a year
  • $100 TSA Pre-check/Global entry credit

Venture X– $395 Annual Fee

  • $300 Dollar Travel Credit in the portal every year
  • 10,000 points (worth minimum $100 dollars) given every anniversary

This card pays for itself after those two perks every year. Here are some additional perks I love:

  • Free lounge access for priority pass, capital one lounge, and plaza premium lounges. Tip with this is to add a child or spouse as an authorized user. This gives them this benefit as well.
  • $100 TSA precheck or global entry credit
  • Cell-phone (stolen or damages get $800 by paying your phone bill)
  • Travel Delay and cancellation, Lost baggage
  • Add up to 4 additional authorized users for free. They also get the lounge benefits and Presidential circle status.

What you can use it for on Disney Trips

Walt Disney World Parks

The following ways you will use the capital one purchase eraser tool. Our step by step tutorial can break down how to do this. 100,000 miles for example will = 1,000 dollars.

  • Rent DVC. Our website codes as travel, allowing you to cover your resort stay with venture miles. Renting DVC usually will save you 40% or more off the listed price! Here is our rental request form. Wondering how much it will cost you? Here is our price calendar.
  • Buy your tickets from a 3rd party vendor like the company, undercover tourist. You can then use the points you earn to erase cost of tickets. Make sure if you want to use venture miles to not buy just your tickets direct from Disney. This codes as entertainment not travel.

  • You can also use venture miles to cover food cost if staying on property. Just use a magic band throughout the park to charge items to your room. This then codes them as travel. The following are all things we have used miles on:
    • Quick service meals
    • Sit down dining
    • Souvenirs
    • Snack carts
    • Character Meals
  • When using your $300 dollar credit with a venture x, you can book on property hotels. You can also book many off property hotels.
  • If buying a whole package from a travel agent, you can use Venture miles towards the total cost by using the “cover travel purchases feature”
  • Rent a rental car through the capital one portal
  • You can book hotel rooms through the portal for 10x the points. Remember too that capital one will price match hotels found. I find that Disney hotels are usually slightly higher but you could price match them. If you booked  $2,000 dollars in hotels, you would get $200 dollars back (minimum) in points this way.

Intermediate level

  • Transfer your points to Air Canada. This will allow you to book some united flights on their website Aeroplan.
  • Transfer your points to British Airways or Turkish airlines. This will allow you to book flights on select American Airlines flights.
Disneyland

  • Buy your tickets from a 3rd party vendor like the company, undercover tourist. You can then use the points you earn to erase cost of tickets
  • If staying on property, charge items to your room using the barcode in the app. Just hold it up for the cast member to scan.
    • Quick service meals
    • Sit down dining
    • Souvenirs
    • Snack carts
    • Character Meals
  • When using your $300 dollar credit, you can book on property hotels. You can also book many off property hotels. Disneyland on property tend be harder to find in the portal, but it is possible with flexibility!
  • If buying a whole package from a Disney travel agent (hotel + tickets), you can use venture miles towards the total cost by using the “cover travel purchases feature”.
  • Rent a rental car through the capital one portal
  • You can book hotel rooms through the portal for 10x the points. Remember too that capital one will price match hotels found. Aulani
  • Rent DVC. Our website codes as travel, allowing you to cover your resort stay with venture miles. Renting DVC usually will save you 40% or more off the listed price! Renting DVC also will cover the cost of parking (which is 40 dollars a day) for free.
  • Have the Venture (X) card be your “incidental card” on your room. You can then charge the following to your room and use miles to cover purchases.
    • Character dining at Ulua
    • Mickey snow cones
    • Souvenirs in the shop
    • Spa treatments
  • Buying the hotel room directly from Disney will code as travel allowing you to cover it with venture miles.
  • Find a cheap cash rate on a flight? You can use the purchase eraser tool.

Everything you can use Capital One miles at Aulani

Intermediate level

  • Transfer points to Turkish airlines to fly for as low as 7,500 points each way. Usually works best from the west coast in my opinion.
  • Transfer points to Air Canada and fly on United
  • Transfer points to British airways on American Airlines

Disney Cruises

To cover a cruise itself with venture miles you will purchase the cruise on the card. Then you can use the cover travel purchases feature. You can also update your payment for cruises. So each family member could open a venture card, earn the sign up bonus, and pay for their portion of the cruise. We like using disney travel agents for cruises because they do not cost you anything but can update this information for you as you go!

Here is our article about what you can cover on the cruise with capital one points.

Other things to note

Step by Step how to do cover a travel purchase

Here is the step by step guide to using the cover travel purchases option on the capital one app. This will get you a 1 cent per point. This means 10 dollars is 1,000 points for example.

Disney Overseas (Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Paris)

I won’t go into each park and details but I would hands down use my points for flights. Oversea parks are much more affordable (food, tickets, etc.) so the most expensive thing is getting there!

  • If you are looking to go to Disneyland Paris, consider using your points on Air France/KLM. They often run discount deals and young kids ages 2-11 on award flights are 25% off.
  • Looking at flying to Japan? Singapore airlines can be a great option and is a transfer partner of capital one.

Hopefully that covers all of the Venture Miles uses!
