Unusual Items to Pack for Disney, Crowdsourced from Thousands of Fans

We asked thousands of our followers for unique ideas to add to the list. Below are some that were mentioned multiple times as tried and true items a person who is new to a Disney trip might not think to bring!

Sticky Notes

These are great for the super intense automatic flushers that tend to scare small children that Disney uses. Put them over the sensor to make the automatic flusher not work. The last thing you want on a Disney trip is your child scared of noises and crying in the bathroom.

Straws

Pack with you straws to use in the parks. Disney has paper straws that fall apart I swear when they hit a drink. We have these reusable ones but I have also seen people take plastic ones to throw away if you are worried about cleaning them.

Ziplock Bags

This is the #1 thing people learned they wanted after their first visit. You can collect wet items after a ride in them, pins your child bought they don’t want to lose, or even some fans mentioned putting leftovers in the ziploc bags to take with them. We have all had that with a child who wants their food 30 mins after we just ate. I would say I usually carry gallon size bags.

Air tags

these little gadgets allow you to airtag your kid so you don’t lose them in the crowds! One of the best ways to do this is to buy inserts that they put into their shoe off of amazon like these. There are also great clips for attaching an airtag to your stroller.

Magic band locks

After one of my Disney World trips where my daughter lost her 25 dollar magic band on mine train I bought these. They lock magic bands in place so you don’t lose them while on rides ( a common issue with little kids).

Glow sticks

Put them on your kid as a bracelet to see them easily in the dark walking around the parks.

Water proof socks/tevas/water shoes

Have a spare pair of shoes and/or socks to switch out before a wet ride in your stroller.

A common item to bring is a disposable poncho too on Disney packing lists but I find my kids complain about their wet feet/soggy socks more than a t-shirt. Don’t also forget a waterproof phone case.

Carabiner for the back of stroller

I like oversized carabiners to hang bags, waterbottles,or a backpack off of the back of my stroller.

Power bank or fuel rods

You won’t know how bag your battery is until you drain your phone at disney parks (lightning lanes, reservations, etc). Did you know amazon carries the same power banks as the ones in the parks? You can switch them out. Kim prefers to to do this while I carry a power bank with me. Here are the fuel rods disney uses and Here is a great power bank.

Clickable sharpies

Some characters have a hard time opening lids to sign things. Clickable sharpies will help your experience trust us!

Body Glide

Walking 15,000+ steps a day your body is going to chafe. This was another common thing people wish they brought on their first trip to Disney.

Fans

Stroller Fans, handheld fans, and neck fans. Unless you are going in the depths of winter (especially to florida) you are going to want all of these things!

Battery lights and Rain Cover for stroller

It rains a lot in Florida, so this mostly applies to Disney World. Make sure you have a rain cover for your stroller (even if rain isn’t in the forecast when you are traveling). Some followers also mentioned putting twinkle lights around their stroller so they could find it easily at night!

Individual snack packs

Something people don’t realize is unlike other theme parks- Disney doesn’t mind if you bring in food or drinks! We have this cooler backpack that I put on the back of my stroller full of drinks/snacks for the day. Just make sure to cut out the bottle opener if you don’t want it going off in TSA or at Disney. My most common thing I bring is actually soda (we are utah girls after all) and fun drinks for my kids. This saves me $5.50 a drink at Disney parks.
