Is the Disney Visa Credit Card worth it?
We get asked A LOT if the Disney Credit Card is worth it to open. Here are the pros and cons (and spoiler alert- the answer is no)
Disney Visa Benefits
You get 10% discounts on Disney Merchandise and Dining at Disney Parks and Shop Disney. You also get “special photo opportunities” at Disney parks at cardmember locations.
You also earn Disney Reward Dollars for purchases on the card. For instance you get 5% back when you put your Disney+ subscription on your Disney Visa. 2% back for groceries,gas stations,restaurants and Disney parks/shopping. All other categories are 1% back.

Why we don’t love it
Takes up a Chase 5/24 slot- Chase has a rule that you can only open 5 personal cards in any 24 month time period. The Disney Visa isn’t worth taking up one of those spots.
the sign up bonus is just sad- $300 reward dollars- this is extremely low for a rewards card. This is a big part of why the Disney Visa card is not worth opening.
it isn’t cash back, it’s credit to use for:
- Disney park tickets
- Disney owned resorts
- Disney Cruises
- shopdisney.com
- airline credit when you charge the flight on your Disney Premier Visa
Most of our cards we open have at least a $1000 worth of travel for opening and putting everyday spending, and as much as we love travel to Disney, we also travel other places and want a card that has more flexible in the rewards.
An exception to the rule!
There is one time I feel like there might be a slight benefit to opening this card. If you were planning on buying Disney Vacation Club (Click here for a basic overview), and were able to pay it off in 6 months, and had a high enough credit limit, THEN it might make sense. Why? because disney vacations (including Disney Vacation Club (DVC) purchased on the card are interest free for 6 months. But that’s it. We say skip this card and get either the best starter card or a capital one venture card instead!
