01 — Overview

Why We Love the Polynesian Villas

The Polynesian Villas are the perfect mix of location, fun Disney theming, and great amenities — and there is truly nowhere else like it at Walt Disney World.

Located on the south shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon, the Polynesian’s location is unbeatable for both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. From the moment you enter the Grand Ceremonial House lobby, you are completely immersed in island details that only Disney can pull off — lush tropical plants, soaring thatched ceilings, and the iconic Moana Boutiki on the second floor. Every building on the resort is named after a different Polynesian island, which is a lovely touch that adds to the sense of being transported somewhere special.

The pool is one of the best on all of Disney property. Watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the pool or the beach while eating a Dole Whip is one of those experiences the whole family will talk about for years. And here’s a fun fact worth sharing: the Polynesian was the hotel where the Beatles officially broke up!

03 — Room Types

Room View Categories

Polynesian Villas offers two view categories for the villa buildings, plus the completely unique over-water Bora Bora Bungalows as a third option.

The view you choose will shape how you experience the resort each morning. A Standard view puts you facing the lush tropical landscaping and pool area. A Lake View gives you Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon right outside your window — and depending on your floor and balcony position, you may be able to see Magic Kingdom fireworks from your room.

🌿 Standard View
Standard

View of parking areas, the pool, or the resort’s lush tropical landscaping. The best value view category — still a beautiful and immersive setting within one of Disney’s most iconic resorts.

Electrical Water Pageant Tip

You can watch the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach and boat dock area at the Polynesian. Check the My Disney Experience app for show times as they vary by week and season. A Lake View room gives you a chance to catch it from your balcony too.

04 — Room Sizes & What’s Included

Room Sizes & Floor Plans

The Polynesian offers two villa room types — the Deluxe Studio and the spectacular over-water Bora Bora Bungalows — each a completely different experience.

One of the most notable things about the Polynesian DVC is that the Deluxe Studios are the largest of any DVC resort — they are genuinely spacious and well-appointed. They are also the only DVC studios in the system where you can book connecting rooms, making them perfect for families who want two rooms side by side. The Bungalows are a once-in-a-lifetime splurge with their own private plunge pool right on the balcony above the water.

The largest Deluxe Studio of any DVC resort. Can be booked as connecting studios — the only DVC resort to offer this option.

  • Two bathrooms
  • Full kitchen (see below)
  • Washer / dryer
  • Private plunge pool on balcony

A truly one-of-a-kind experience — perched directly over the Seven Seas Lagoon with Magic Kingdom views and a private plunge pool. The most unique DVC accommodation at Walt Disney World.

What’s in Every Full Kitchen (Bungalows)

Kitchens include: sink, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, microwave, coffee maker, toaster. Plates, cups, silverware, frying pan, sauce pan, and cooking utensils. Also stocked with one roll of paper towels, one dishwasher tablet, travel-size dishwashing soap, and a sponge.

Connecting Studios Tip

The Polynesian is the only DVC resort where you can book connecting Deluxe Studios. If you have a group that needs two rooms but doesn’t need the full Bungalow experience, booking connecting studios gives you two full bathrooms, two sleeping areas, and an interior connecting door — a fantastic setup for families with kids.

05 — Food Options

Restaurants, Bars & Quick Service

The Polynesian has more dining options than almost any other Walt Disney World resort — from Dole Whips to family-style character meals, every option here is genuinely good.

The two headliners are ‘Ohana and Kona Cafe, both inside the Grand Ceremonial House and both worth booking at your 60-day window. For quick service, Capt. Cook’s is a standout — great food, mobile ordering available, and open late. The lobby sundry store is a hidden gem for families with young children: it stocks milk, wipes, frozen pizzas, and Mickey ice cream bars. You can also hop on the monorail and dine at the Grand Floridian or Contemporary with no extra transportation needed.

🍢
‘Ohana Photo
01 ‘Ohana

Family-style dining with Polynesian flair. The Best Friends Breakfast features Lilo and Stitch — one of the most beloved character meals at Walt Disney World. Dinner is “All You Care to Enjoy” with no characters, but firework music is piped in at night. Book both well in advance — ‘Ohana is one of the hardest reservations to get on property.

🍣
Kona Cafe Photo
02 Kona Cafe

With a mix of traditional American and Asian cuisine, Kona Cafe features a sushi kitchen and is a great option for something a little lighter than typical theme park food. Perfect for a relaxed lunch or dinner on a resort day. Also a fantastic breakfast spot — the Tonga Toast is legendary.

Quick Service & Other Options

Capt. Cook’s quick service has great food and is even more convenient with mobile ordering available from the parks or from your room. The pool bar and the lobby sundry store round out a very solid on-resort dining lineup for every time of day.

  • Capt. Cook’s — The main quick service location. Great food, available for breakfast through late night. Mobile ordering available through My Disney Experience. One of the better quick service options at any Disney resort.
  • Pineapple Lanai — The home of the famous Dole Whip at the Polynesian. Soft-serve pineapple and a rotating menu of Dole Whip floats and specialties. Worth a stop every single day of your trip.
  • Barefoot Pool Bar — Poolside bar serving cocktails, beer, and light snacks. Convenient for a cold drink without ever leaving the pool area.
  • Tambu Lounge — The bar adjacent to ‘Ohana on the second floor of the Grand Ceremonial House. Serves the full ‘Ohana appetizer menu including the famous noodles and dumplings at a fraction of the full restaurant cost. Order there and ask them to box it up when it arrives.
  • Lobby Sundry Store — A grab-and-go convenience spot in the lobby with milk, wipes, frozen pizzas, Mickey ice cream bars, and snack essentials. Especially handy for families with young children or newborns.
  • Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show — An outdoor luau-style dinner show with Polynesian entertainment. A fun and festive evening experience, especially for families. Book in advance as it has limited seating.

Tambu Lounge Hack

Go to the Tambu Lounge (the bar right next to ‘Ohana) and order the ‘Ohana noodles and dumplings for a fraction of the full restaurant cost. They will ask you to box it yourself when it arrives since they cannot do official to-go orders — but it is the same food at a much lower price point. A great insider move.

Dining Reservation Tip

As a DVC / deluxe resort guest, you can make all your dining reservations 60 days before check-in. Book ‘Ohana breakfast first — it is one of the most requested character meals at Walt Disney World and fills up within minutes of the booking window opening.

06 — Activities & Transportation

Activity Highlights & Getting Around

Between the volcano pool, the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach, a campfire three nights a week, and one of the fastest routes to Magic Kingdom at Disney World — the Polynesian keeps you busy even on your resort days.

Pools & Splash Pads

There are two pool areas at the Polynesian: the main Lava Pool at the Great Ceremonial House and a smaller leisure pool near the DVC buildings. The main Lava Pool is genuinely one of the best pools at any Disney resort — it features a great volcano-themed water slide, a pirate kids splash pad right next to it, a hot tub, and the Barefoot Pool Bar steps away. Watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the pool on a warm evening is an experience that is hard to top anywhere on Disney property.

Movie Under the Stars

Several evenings a week — usually Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday — the Polynesian plays a Disney movie outside under the stars. Check with the resort for times as these change seasonally.

Electrical Water Pageant

Don’t miss the Electrical Water Pageant from the beach and boat dock viewing area. This iconic illuminated parade travels across the Seven Seas Lagoon each evening, and the Polynesian beach is one of the best viewing spots on property. Times vary by week and season — check the My Disney Experience app.

Campfire & S’mores

Located on the beach, you can roast marshmallows on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 PM each week. S’mores kits are available for an additional fee. A perfect way to wind down and watch the water before the Electrical Water Pageant begins.

Transportation — Monorail, Boat & Walking Path

Magic Kingdom can be reached by monorail (one stop), by boat across the Seven Seas Lagoon, or by walking path along the waterfront. For EPCOT, walk the path from the resort to the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC) — it is faster than waiting for the resort monorail loop — and board the EPCOT monorail there. The DVC buildings sit closest to this path, making it especially convenient.

Transportation — Bus

Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom are served by Disney buses from the resort. Find estimated arrival times under “My Resort” in the My Disney Experience app. Buses typically begin running about an hour before the parks open each morning.

Transportation Hint

Buses start arriving roughly an hour before the parks open each morning. For Magic Kingdom morning rope drop, the monorail is usually the fastest option from the Polynesian. For EPCOT, the walk to the TTC and the EPCOT monorail is typically faster than the resort loop — and it’s a beautiful walk along the lagoon.

07 — DVC Perks

Perks from Staying at the Polynesian & Renting DVC

Renting DVC points unlocks a full suite of benefits that standard hotel bookings simply don’t include — and they’re all built into your rental cost.

What You Get

These perks apply to all guests staying at the Polynesian Villas through a DVC rental — included in the cost, no extras needed.

30 min
Early Park Entry
2x/wk
Late Night Hours
60 days
Dining Advance
$0
Resort & Tax Fees
Free
Water Park Day
Early Entry
You are given entry into each park 30 minutes before park opening. Plan to arrive at the park about an hour early — cast members often begin loading guests onto rides before the official opening time. At the Polynesian, the monorail puts you at the Magic Kingdom gate faster than almost any other resort.
Late Night Entry
Usually occurs 2 times a week. These exclusive after-hours events are only for deluxe hotel and DVC guests and happen after the park officially closes to day guests. Rides tend to be walk-on — one of the most magical ways to experience Walt Disney World.
No Tax or Resort Fees
These are included in renting DVC — a significant saving over Disney’s published cash rates, which can add $50–$100 or more per night in fees and taxes on top of the room rate.
No Parking Fee
Disney doesn’t charge parking fees for hotel guests — both at the theme parks and at the resort itself. This saves most families $30+ per day at the parks.
Free Transportation
Free Disney transportation to and from all parks every day of your stay. At the Polynesian, you can take the monorail or boat to Magic Kingdom, walk to the TTC for the EPCOT monorail, or catch buses to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom — all included.
Dining at 60 Days
You can make all your dining reservations 60 days before check-in. Walk your reservations forward each morning to secure better times. This is especially critical at the Polynesian — ‘Ohana breakfast fills up within minutes of the booking window opening and is nearly impossible to get as a day guest.
Free Water Park Day
Polynesian DVC guests receive free water park tickets for the entire room for the first day of their stay — a unique perk not offered at every DVC resort. A great way to start your trip with a bonus activity on arrival day.
Villa Accommodations
The Polynesian Deluxe Studios are the largest of any DVC resort — spacious, beautifully themed, and the only studios in DVC that can be booked as connecting rooms. A major upgrade over a standard hotel room at a resort of this caliber.
