Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m already on vacation and a hurricane is coming?
You are in one of the most safe places you can be, so don’t worry. All resorts are built to withstand any storm and have back up power just for these occasions. Disney will make your stay as enjoyable as possible. If the parks are closed for a day (which is rare but can happen), they will have food options available and also the cast members really try to make everyone’s day fun to forget the crummy weather outside. They play games and have more activities at the resorts to keep children and adults occupied during the heavy rain and wind. Also if you are coming from a place where there aren’t hurricanes, know that orlando is 40 miles inland so most hurricanes will be downgraded to a tropical storm which will be heavy rain and wind, but no extreme danger to you as a guest in a resort.

What if there is a Hurricane Warning and my vacation starts soon?
If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area, Vero Beach, Hilton Head, Aulani—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule your DVC vacation without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney.

What if I rented points- what happens to my reservation?
If you have rented from us, and need to reschedule your trip because of a Hurricane, please contact us right away. We will call member services and help you in any way possible to reschedule your vacation to a different time. There will not be any fees to change your vacation.
If you rented from David’s rentals or another broker, each broker has a different cancellation policy, so make sure you are aware of their policies before you book. For instance, David’s does not refund or reschedule due to a Hurricane but does offer a site for travel insurance.
If you are renting directly from an owner, and you are renting between August and November, make sure to ask what their own policy is in case of a Hurricane.
Can I get the same room?
We will try our best to try to get you the room you wanted at a later date, but this is based on availability at the time.
If I own DVC, what happens to my points? Do they go into “holding”?
If you own a contract with Disney Vacation Club, then your points are returned to your original use year, and do not go into the dreaded “holding” account, making them useless.
