Understanding Aulani Room View Categories

Aloha! If you are used to picking a room at a Walt Disney World or Disneyland resort, and you are planning a trip to Aulani in Hawaii, you need to know there are more room options and view options than other Disney resorts. This can make choosing a little tricky.  Here are the Aulani room categories so you can get the room you want!

Aulani has Multiple Room Views

  • Standard
  • Island/Garden View
  • Poolside
  • Ocean View
Aulani Resort

Disney Aulani Resort and Spa is located on the island of Oahu in the K’Olina area about 40 minutes from the Honolulu airport . It is a great combination of Disney fun and Island beach resort.

Aulani is one of our most popular place for our DVC rentals because it can offer the biggest savings compared to booking a room with Disney direct. When renting (or even booking a room direct from Disney) you are asked what room type you want and which view.

Standard View

This will be a view of either the conference rooftop or the parking structure. There are limited rooms in this category and very rarely are these room available closer than 11 months before check in. This view will be the cheapest of the view options at Aulani

Island/ Garden View

Our most popular choice. You will either have a view of the island, or the garden area where the Luau is held on certain nights of the week. This is our most popular choice as you can often get this room compared to other views.

Poolside

These rooms are on the first two floors of the resort making them convenient to get to the pool and beach. This can help during peak times when the elevators are packed in the morning and after a full day in the sun.

Which one do we usually pick?

We love the island view category as it’s not a huge jump in price, but you get a much better view.  It also seem more available than the other Aulani Room Categories, even at 7 months which can be really helpful. We love ordering a pizza, sitting on the balcony and watching the luau without the cost and time spent a luau dinner and show. It’s a win win for the price.

What about Hotel rooms withDisney Vacation Club?

While technically there are hotel rooms that you can book using DVC points, there are so few (8 in all!) that we don’t even consider these as a viable option to book. If you are lucky enough to find a hotel room available, there are no view categories and there will be 2 queen beds and no kitchenette. They will be smaller than a studio, but less expensive if you can find one!
