Best and Worst Disney Vacation Club Resorts for Availability
The first time time I decided to rent Disney Vacation Club, I put in a request for the Grand Californian for a vacation starting in 7 days. Now I can cringe at how naive I was to think that it would be that easy I thought it would be to get a room! After booking Disney Vacation club for vacations from 11 months and 3 weeks before a vacation, I know that there are certain Disney Vacation Club (DVC) resorts and rooms that are my best chance to find!
Success Stories for our Renters!

Hardest DVC Resorts to find availability (less than 7 months to check in)
- Grand Californian (this is the unicorn of availability)
- Beach Club ( the unicorn cousin at 7 months- sometimes you can find a day here and there)
- Polynesian
- Boardwalk ( especially during food and wine)
- Copper Creek at Wilderness Lodge
Think proximity to Parks, walkability to parks, and smaller resorts.
Sometimes renovations limit the number of rooms at a DVC resort- here is the renovation schedule.

Easiest
- Old Key West
- Saratoga Springs (click here for our spotlight)
- Animal Kingdom Lodge-see exceptions below (click here for our spotlight)
These are the largest of the resorts, so the shear number of rooms available help a ton.
Beyond hard Studios to book! It might take more that a pinch of pixie dust for You to reserve one of these!
- Club level at Animal Kingdom Jambo House
- Animal Kingdom value studios
- Boardwalk Standard and Boardwalk views
- Aulani Hotel room
- Riviera Resort- standard and tower rooms
- Copper Creek studio
- Grand Californian Studio
- Beach Club Studio
All of these rooms are hardly EVER available to book at 7 months (and from experience, Value Studios at Animal Kingdom Lodge are gone within minutes at 11 months- it’s more urban legend that a real category). To have ANY Chance with this list, make sure you are renting from an owner at that resort and book at 11 months.
Hit and miss!
In years past the Villas at the Grand Floridian have been REALLY hard to book. but with the addition of the new building, it seems to be getting better for the short term!
The Polynesian usually is hard to book, but we’ve been lucky in the off season and can find it at least sometimes.
The Riviera has some studios that you can find at the seven month mark, mostly preferred view over standard view.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel are decent to find at 7 months, but when they sell out, it’s gonna be tough just like the Grand Californian.
Think we are crazy?
