Intro to DVC Renting- just the basics
Brand New to Renting Disney Vacation Club? Let’s help you with the basics!
DVC 101
- Disney Vacation Club (DVC for short) is Disney’s version of a timeshare.
- DVC is based on a point system
- When someone buys a DVC contract, they purchase a certain amount of points at a specific resort, each year for the length of the contract. For example they might buy 100 points at Animal Kingdom Lodge that they receive every February 1st until 2057.
- These points are flexible- they can be use for different dates and rooms- they are not tied to a specific room or week.
- Owners can make reservations at their “home resort” 11 months from check in date, and other resorts at 7 months (if available).
- When owners can’t use their points, they can let other use these points and make a reservation for them.
Renting 101
When you rent DVC points from an owner, you get all of the same benefits as if a DVC member was staying there. Some extra benefits include:- free parking at resorts, and the parks (free parking at Aulani also)
- late night entry for deluxe resort guests at WDW on select nights
- You can rent from an online broker like us! You can also rent directly from an owner.
- You need to know how many points you will need to rent. Use these point charts to find out how many points you will need to rent for your vacation.
- You need to start early- DVC rooms are limited in some resorts. If you want the best selection, start as close to 11 months as you can.
- Renting can save you 50% off Disney cash rate for a deluxe resort- you can stay at a deluxe resort for the price of a moderate!!!
