Our Favorite Disney Hotels with Hotel Credit Card Points
It can be very confusing to know which hotel to stay at when planning a Disney parks vacation. If you have a co-branded card (like a Hyatt, Marriott, IHG, or Hilton card) you may have been earning points to use and/or have free night certificates to use. We are going to cover the 4 main hotel brands used in traveling: Marriott, Hyatt, IHG, and Hilton in this post.
Marriott
Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World has both on and off property hotels. On property guests get additional perks such as late night hours. Most of the on-property hotels are owned by Disney. However, Marriott worked out a deal and currently owns 3 on property hotels. They are the Swan, Dolphin, and the Reserve.
These three hotels are within walking distance of Epcot and Hollywood studios and our favorite option to use Marriott points. Marriott around 1 time a year run a deal on their credit cards where you can open 1 card and get 5, 50k certificates. All three of these hotels if you are flexible on dates you can use those free night certificates. If they are similar in price, the reserve is the newest and our favorite of the three. You can read Kim’s review of her stay here.
Disneyland
There are many Marriotts near Disneyland within walking distance. Kim stayed at the JW Marriott and loved the location. Depending on how many points you have, many have said great things about the SpringHill suites which is on the corner of Katella and S Harbor Blvd which you can cover with a 35K certificates. For proximity, the closest is the Courtyard by Marriott Anaheim Theme Park entrance right across from the main entrance of the parks. It is higher in points, but great to stay at with its water park!
We loved staying at this Hyatt within walking distance of Disneyland
Hyatt
Walt Disney World
If you want to stay at a hyatt near WDW, my favorite option is the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. Near Disney springs we have stayed here and enjoyed it. The pool is really nice and the proximity to the parks is great. They do have a shuttle but it runs sporadically so we liked to Uber family back and forth instead.
Disneyland
Our favorite is the Hyatt House. Its on the corner of Harbor Blvd and Katella. It is a couple of minute walk to the parks and includes breakfast! If you can’t get into Hyatt house, shoot for the hyatt place. It is across the street from the toy story lot so you can take the tram over to the parks!
IHG
Walt Disney World
If I were to pick an IHG near WDW, I would pick the Holiday Inn Orlando-Disney Springs. It comes with early morning hours and is right by Disney Springs. It is also reasonable on IHG points and I have heard from multiple people that they have enjoyed it.
Disneyland
There are three main hotels near walking distance from the Disneyland entrance. Holiday Inn Express, Hotel indigo, and Candlewood Suites. I haven’t stayed at them, but have heard people like all three so I don’t think you can go wrong! All of them are near the parks and you can walk.
Hilton
Walt Disney World
There are quite a few near WDW. Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista or the Buena Vista Palace are great options near Disney springs. Waldorf Astoria is one I would use a free night certificated at but because of the cost but I wouldn’t stay here unless you are wanting to stay more at your hotel and not in the parks much because of the point cost. Paying with cash, I personally would then just rent DVC and stay on-property instead.
Disneyland
I would pick Homewood Suites by Hilton. It has kitchens if that is something you want! I had a friend recently stay there and she loved it! She wants a Hilton card just so she can stay at that hotel every year.
