What to pack for a Disney Cruise

Getting ready and don’t know what to pack for your Disney cruise?  Here are some items that you might want to consider putting on your list! Note: we don’t receive any compensation when you buy these items- we just love them! You can click on any photo to take you directly to that product.

Empty Gift card

Let’s start off with something you probably can find for FREE!  Take a empty gift card with you.  Then use it to put in the light/air switch by the door, so you can come back to a cool room after time on the deck.

What’s included in a Disney Cruise

Mug

Disney has free soda, coffee and juices on board.  Awesome! But the paper cups are so small (what a waste!). So instead bring your water mug and such and fill it up!

Magnetic hooks

Cruise walls and doors are magnetized.  It really helpful to have a pack of magnetic hooks to hang items on the walls like towels and bags.

Beach towel bands

it’s breezy on the ocean (insert shocked face). These bands are so helpful to keep your towel in place while on deck or at the beach.

Lanyard

Your key card pretty much does everything on board. It’s your room key, charge card, and your entry back on the boat while at dock or at one of Disney’s islands.  So having it handy is really helpful with a lanyard.

Disney door magnet

Did you know that people decorate their cabin doors on Disney Cruises?  It’s fun, but it also is a time saver since there are thousands of cabins with identical doors.  Having a fun magnet on your door identifies your cabin easily.

Waterproof phone pouch

Bring waterproof phone pouch to protect your phone at the beach. We also take these to Aulani.

Fan

These fans are nice to have at a hot port/beach or at night in your room if prefer.  We take these to Disney parks all the time and have had the same fans for years with no problems charging.

Pirate theme clothes

Disney ships usually include a pirate theme night, where guests dress up and it’s so fun!  Lots of choices on Amazon for the whole family.  Everything from a simple tee shirt, to full costumes. We also love Taylorjoelle.com for cute and comfortable kids outfits for Disney!

Packing cubes

There isn’t a ton of drawer space on cruises, but I’ve noticed the drawers are almost exact size to pop in a  medium packing cube. Keep things neat and save space in your suitcase too!

Travel power tower or travel charger

Ditto for plugs as drawers.  All disney cruises have standard plugs, but most don’t have usb ports and such.  Either a USB tower or a foldable travel charging mat is a must.

Wrinkle releaser

Downy wrinkle releaser was really helpful for our cruises to help get ready, Just get a small travel size, it goes a long way. There are no irons in the rooms, so this is your best best!

Autograph Book/pen

Lots of characters on board and usually much better lines than what you would find at the parks. This book is our favorite so characters can sign on their page!

motion sickness meds

This as you can imagine is pretty expensive on board the ship, so if you have a tendency to need Dramamine and the like, bring some from home.

***Disney Point Gal tip****

I was worried on our first cruise as my hubby has trouble with motion sickness.  My sister-in-law told us to have him eat an apple each day on the cruise for motion.  It worked so well!!! No sickness at all, and we tried it on another trip with family and no one had any sea sickness after that!

COLLAPSIBLE Beach Bucket

No one has room in their checked bags for full beach buckets!  But these are perfect for ports and lay flat!

Alcohol

Alcohol is really expensive on board, so consider bringing your own! Here is the official policy (and they are strict!) about bringing wine and beer on board.

Disney Cruise Line Guests 21 years and older may bring a maximum of 2 bottles of unopened wine or champagne (no larger than 750 ml) or 6 beers (no larger than 12 ounces) on board at the beginning of the voyage and at each port of call. These beverages must be packed in carry-on (not checked) bags or luggage.

If you are bringing wine/beer on board- Don’t forget a Corkscrew and bottle opener!

What did we miss?
